Principal's Message
Principal's Message
Welcome to Old Orchard Junior High School! I’m so glad you’ve taken the time to visit our webpage. This is my eleventh year at Old Orchard and my sixth year as Principal, and every day I feel inspired by the diversity, aspirations, and resilience of our students and families. I’m truly grateful to be able to serve such a wonderful community.
Prior to joining District 68, I taught Social Studies at the high school level and served in leadership roles within alternative high schools in Chicago and the Quad Cities. My professional path has also included over a decade of graduate study and research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Illinois–Chicago. These experiences have shaped my focus on equity, innovative instruction, and continuous improvement as the foundation of student empowerment and success.
What makes Old Orchard special is the people. Our teachers are dedicated, caring, and always looking for ways to help students grow. We challenge our students with high expectations, but we also surround them with support so they can take risks, learn from mistakes, and build independence. By focusing on cooperation, creativity, and problem solving, we aim to nurture not only strong students but also kind classmates, thoughtful leaders, and lifelong learners.
As both a resident and educator in Skokie, I am proud to live and work in a community that values education so deeply. If you’re new to the area—or already a neighbor—I encourage you to reach out. I welcome your engagement and partnership in this important work.
Sincerely,
Greg
